Pulwama is a unique district on many counts. A home to a host of literary luminaries
like Mahjoor and Sochkral, Pulwama has contributed a lot to the literary landscape/canvas
of the state. Hemmed in between Shopian, Anatnag and Budgam, this district is a home to
huge swathes of fertile keraewas, picturesque apple orchards and rich farmlands.
With a literacy rate of over 65 per cent, District Pulwama is counted as one of
the prosperous districts of the state. Pulwama is also known as Anand of Kashmir for
its huge milk production.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ – peace be upon him) said: “A servant of God will remain standing on the Day of Judgment until he is questioned about his (time on earth) and how he used it; about his knowledge and how he utilized it; about his wealth and from where he acquired it and in what (activities) he spent it; and about his body and how he used it.
